Claire has previously worked for MRI Worldwide; an international head hunt recruitment firm in operation since 1965, and she has also worked for a number of blue chip organisations.
“Ironically, I was ‘head hunted’ into an Executive Search firm, but prior to this I had visions of travelling the world, twice over…
In between this ambitious travel plan, I came back to the UK.
I had already lived in the Spanish islands, and in the USA before coming back home to the UK.
On my return, I went straight into a sales-based role which kept me on home soil for a little bit longer than I’d anticipated – before which time I became addicted to the ‘buzz’ of making a ‘deal’ – and the rest, as they say, is history.
I still vividly remember doing my ‘first deal’ in recruitment… the sweaty palms, the beating heart, the dry mouth! It was exhilarating and so much fun, to the point that I wanted to experience the feeling again and again.
Moreover, I like to help people. With recruitment, I’m in a fortunate position where I can help people, every single day.
The impact that my work has – across the board (for the job seeker and for the employer and the supply chain) – is sometimes under-played, so I always try to take a step back and appreciate the position that I’m in as a seasoned recruiter.
After building several client bases, and having changed markets on a couple of occasions, I soon realised that recruitment was just as much about the ‘personal relationship’ as it was about the product and/or service provision. So my energy goes into building ‘strong’ relationships, which has served me well over the years.
After more than a decade in ‘the game’ I can safely say that the ‘return ticket’ home was the right one!”
