“I still remember my first day in recruitment; walking into an office full of people I didn’t know, but fully aware that they knew more about recruitment than I did…
…It wasn’t a daunting prospect because I was always confident that I’d eventually ‘get the hang of it’.
That first day seems like a million light years ago now – but it was those early ‘lessons’ that taught me the ‘game’. The game of life, I like to call it.
Everyone wants to be a winner – but very few make the sacrifices, and what I have learnt the most about recruitment is that there is a sacrifice to made, if you want to ‘get good’ at it.
Back when I started out in recruitment, this career path was not one that I had really anticipated.
I had studied to become a lawyer, after which time I decided that I wanted to be a pop star, before ‘falling’ into recruitment; working during a time that some deem to be one of the toughest times for recruiters. The recession.
To be honest, I didn’t feel the harsh effects of the recession as much as others did and I think this naïve approach to the severity of the situation helped me.
I still try to carry a naive and ‘wide-eyed’ perspective into some scenarios because it helps me to remain optimistic about the desired outcomes… I am most certainly a ‘glass half full’ kind of guy.
Fast forward a decade, and I am now the MD of Jonothan Bosworth Recruitment Specialists.
We plan to be the ‘best’ recruitment business in the world. It doesn’t matter what it takes. We want to work harder, faster & longer than our competitors, (when necessary), and this attitude has helped us to ‘win’ – even when the odds have been stacked against us”.
